Question Three

The institution that might distribute my media product is Hammer productions, I choose this because it is UK based and this is where I filmed my thriller opening. The production ident is “Star Crossed Productions”; we choose this name as we got inspiration from Universal Pictures. The main reason why it is in the sky is because stars are in the skies, “crossed” means unlucky because in the thriller there is somebody who is unlucky and dies first off, next the detective dies from finding the dead body. The main reason why we choose Hammer productions is because they do horrors very well for example in 2012 they did Women in Black. This did very well on its first day of release.   

The money from the film might come from sponsors and big film produces such as Sony or Paramount Pictures. Those both as they make a lot of money from doing films and they would take most of the profit if they produced and sold it, it would be good for them because they would have there name in which people can trust to buy as they are a large company which a lot of people know and trust. Similar films that Paramount pictures have produced are Top Gun, which are a thriller but not crime. This shows how successful the production companies have been.  

The money to fund the film may come from sponsors and big production companies such as Sony or Paramount; those production companies normally get separate distributers to distribute the film. The price range of the thriller will be dependent on how long it is. The production company that I choose to produce my film is ‘Hammer’, I choose this because they are based in Britain and they have the same genre range as the thriller that I have filmed. This production company is one of the oldest in Britain and I well known throughout the film producing industry. The most up-to-date films that the Hammer Production Company has done are Women in Black and Wake Wood. They have produced for both of Women in Black and Wake Woods.

There are various people that are shown in the opening titles, as they are important, they have specific roles in producing the film. The order that this company has done it in is that the most important people come last and closer to the action and the less important people or the majority of people who did specific roles in producing the role. The lead produce overseas everything produced in the studios. 

My film would be similar to Women In Black in a way that there are jump scares and fast paced editing. This film follows the general conventions of an ordinary thriller. Also the same production company as the one our thriller would be, ‘Hammer Studios’, produced Women In Black. Sherlock Holms is another good example of what our thriller would look like and follow conventions along the same path as that was our stating point for ideas such as the flash backs in the mind.

This production company would distribute my product as it is a thriller and that is what they specialize in. They would reach their target audience by making the cover appealing for them, maybe taking screen grabs from inside the film to put on.
