Thriller audience
Target audience:
We use demographic information to find out age, race
nationality and gender. This helps us see what type of film is the most
popular. Physiographic information is used to find out about someone’s
lifestyle and hobbies.
The Socio-economic class scale:
-
Class A is people who are in high paid jobs and
are professionals in there industry, for example a doctor would fall into this
group.
-
Class B is people who are in middle management
who get paid a moderate amount of money, for example a teacher would fall into
this group.
-
Class C1 those are often people in training or
are young management for example a junior manger would fall into this category.
-
Class C2 are high skilled workers such as
plumbers or electricians.
-
Class D is unskilled manual workers.
-
Class E is people who have no skill and are
unemployed, for example students would fall into this category.
Analysis of Films (target audience
profiles):
This first film is called ‘The Purge’ and this is a Science Fiction, Thriller, and Horror. The film
is a multi-hybrid genre which means that many people will want to watch it. The
film is set in America which means any English speaking person can watch it
without subtitles. With it being a horror people may be put off by blood and
gaur. I think that this film should be suited for Class B to C2 as they are
needed to understand the twisted plot. Altogether this film is a great thriller
as it is fast paced cuts and twisted plots.
The next film that is called ‘The Expendables
3’ I choose this one because it has realistic shoot out which did happen in
real life. People who enjoy big explosions and fast paced action would enjoy
this film because there are many fast paced cuts and close ups causing a sense
of mystery. The film is a hybrid genre meaning more people would enjoy it in a
larger audience. The film is a 15 but I think that people between the ages of
20-35 would enjoy it. I would rank this film as a class C film as they are usually
quite young workers who are either training or have a starting job.
